Visit to NGO La Vida, Brunei – Together, We Help - 27 June 2026

As part of my ongoing commitment to advancing awareness, education, and collaboration in the field of special needs, I had the privilege of visiting NGO La Vida in Brunei Darussalam.

The visit gave me the opportunity to meet with Ms. Charlene and the dedicated La Vida team, where I learned more about their remarkable work in supporting individuals with special needs and their families through community-based initiatives, education, and advocacy.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Charlene for her warm hospitality and inspiring dedication.

"I am truly proud to meet a fellow Malaysian who has devoted her life to serving the special needs community in Brunei through a local NGO. Your passion and commitment are making a meaningful difference in the lives of many families."

During my visit, I also met a special needs teenager who was looking for an employment opportunity. It reminded me that meaningful employment is not just about earning a living—it is about dignity, independence, confidence, and belonging.

Individuals with special needs do not need our sympathy. They need opportunities, acceptance, understanding, and a community that believes in their abilities.

I strongly believe that supporting individuals with special needs requires collaboration among healthcare professionals, educators, therapists, employers, community organisations, and families. When we work together, we can build a more inclusive society where every individual has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.

I look forward to returning to Brunei to share more comprehensive medical knowledge with parents, teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals. Through education, collaboration, and shared commitment, we can continue strengthening support for the special needs community and their families.
