I was honoured to be part of the Lawatan ke Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PPDK) DuyongKita held in conjunction with the Jelajah Ketua Menteri Sayang Rakyat (MESRA) DUN Duyong 2026.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about the important role that PPDK DuyongKita plays in supporting individuals with disabilities through rehabilitation, skills development, and community-based programmes. It was inspiring to witness the dedication of the staff, caregivers, volunteers, and families who work tirelessly to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As a medical practitioner with a special interest in supporting individuals with special needs and their families, I believe that meaningful progress is achieved through collaboration. Community-based organisations such as PPDK are essential in complementing healthcare, education, and social support services, enabling individuals to reach their fullest potential while promoting greater independence and participation in society.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the organisers for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful programme. Initiatives such as the MESRA programme strengthen partnerships between the government, healthcare professionals, community organisations, and the public, while reinforcing our shared commitment to building a more inclusive and compassionate community.
I look forward to continuing to support initiatives that promote awareness, accessibility, and comprehensive care for individuals with special needs.
