Mental Health Sharing at Bacang Charity - 20 October 2026

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Bacang Charity for inviting me to share an important topic on depression, suicidal thoughts and mental well-being.

What surprised me most that evening was the atmosphere.

Although we were discussing serious mental health issues, the session was not filled only with sadness. Instead, we talked, interacted, reflected and laughed together.

The audience was wonderful — attentive, responsive and very willing to participate.

It reminded me that mental health education does not always have to be frightening or heavy. Sometimes, when we create a safe and positive environment, people become more comfortable talking about difficult emotions and learning when to seek help.

How Much Healthy Time Do We Have Left?

During the talk, I asked everyone to do a simple calculation.

Take 80 years, minus your current age, and then consider another 5 years when our health may not be at its best.

What is left?

Of course, this is not a medical calculation or a prediction of lifespan. It is simply a way to remind ourselves that our healthy time in this world is limited.

Sometimes we spend too much time being angry, worrying about things we cannot control, or forgetting the people who truly matter to us.

My message that evening was very simple:

Be happy.

Be forgiving.

Do good to others.

Treasure your family and friends.

And lastly, remember to love yourself too.

After many years of working with individuals and families facing mental health challenges, I have learned that sometimes the most important thing we can offer another person is not complicated advice.

Sometimes, it is simply to notice, listen and care.

Do not wait until someone is at their lowest point before showing concern.

别让关心来得太迟。

Don’t let care come too late.

Thank you once again to Bacang Charity, everyone who attended, and all those who contributed behind the scenes to make this meaningful sharing possible.

If you or someone around you is experiencing suicidal thoughts or is in immediate danger, please seek urgent professional or emergency assistance.
